Bleaching is a chemical process and can affect your curl pattern. Since bleach raises the cuticle to remove pigment, this can break the protein bonds in the hair that form the curl, resulting in looser or less defined curls. Bleaching of curls can be done safely, but a lower-volume mix is usually recommended. Always consult a professional and/or strand test before you make any decisions. If you do bleach curly hair at home, make sure you’re applying the dye in very small sections with full saturation - especially with tighter curls such as a 3B-3C to 4A-4C hair types - to ensure they lighten evenly.
